Grade 1 Math: Ten Frame Centers

In my teaching, I LOVE using math centers. I find it to be such a perfect way of getting students working with one concept, using different materials. I find that students are most engaged in math when they have the opportunity to participate in centres. Here is one of example of a centre rotation I did during my internship:

Orange Shirt Day

During my internship, I had the opportunity of teaching a lesson to my students on Orange Shirt day. As I started planning for this important day, I found a great site with lots of information to guide me. For Orange Shirt day, I began teaching my kids about Canadian Residential Schools and the injustice many First Nations people in the country  have been faced  with. Our main focus today was that every child matters I had created a lesson plan, template and power point for Orange Shirt Day.
